Our Story
Our Mission
To replace everyday plastic products with sustainable, compostable alternatives that protect the planet, empower communities, and inspire conscious living.

Our Commitment
We’re committed to creating a future where sustainable choices feel natural, accessible, and full of heart. Every product we make — from compostable iPad covers to our future everyday essentials — will be designed with integrity, care, and respect, with our planet in mind.
Our promise is simple: to do better every day. We choose materials that return safely to the earth, keep our packaging as thoughtful as our products, and work with partners who share our vision for a cleaner, more connected world.
We believe in progress, not perfection. Together with our community, We’re taking small, meaningful steps that add up to big change. Because when sustainability feels easy and welcoming, we can all be part of something larger than ourselves — a world that is balanced between those that inhabit the earth and the planet that provides for us.

Our Beginnings
Our journey began in the biotech world — a place where innovation thrives, but so does plastic waste. Every day, we saw mountains of single-use plastics being discarded, and we couldn’t shake the question: What if we could do this differently?
What started as small conversations between friends, soon became a shared mission. We knew there had to be a better way — one that honored both progress and the planet. So, we set out to reimagine everyday products in a way that was both practical and sustainable.
That’s how our company was born: from a desire to create compostable alternatives to plastic. Starting with products like iPad covers that blend thoughtful design, natural materials, and genuine care for the earth.
Meet Bix B.
Bix B. is an elephant seal who loves to lounge on a clean beach after a long swim in the ocean.
Female elephant seals are quiet powerhouses of the Pacific — resilient travelers who spend most of their lives far offshore before returning each winter to the same beaches to give birth and nurture their young. Point Reyes National Seashore is one of their most treasured pupping grounds, a sanctuary of cliffs and hidden coves where mothers fast for weeks while tending to their newborn pups.
As indicator species, elephant seals help us understand the health of the ocean itself. Their migrations, diets, and body conditions reveal changes in water temperature, prey abundance, and pollution. When they thrive, it’s a sign that the marine world is thriving too.
It’s why our mascot, Bix B., carries special meaning. Named after the iconic Bixby Bridge in Big Sur — a symbol of California’s rugged coastline, connection between land masses, and the meeting place between land and sea — Bix B. reminds us that every bridge we build between people, wildlife, and the planet strengthens our shared journey. She stands as the welcoming face of our Raft: steady, spirited, and resilient.

The Bixby Bridge
Beneath the soaring arch of the Bixby Bridge, one of Big Sur’s most beloved landmarks, a quiet miracle unfolded in 1938. In the protected coves below the cliffs, researchers discovered a tiny remnant raft of sea otters—just a few dozen survivors of a species once believed extinct due to the fur trade that had decimated the California coast. Their unexpected presence, cradled in the kelp forests, became an early symbol of how fragile and precious marine life truly is.
The survival of that small group of otters became part of the larger conservation awakening that eventually led to national protections for whales, dolphins, seals, and sea otters decades later. Their resilience, set against the wild beauty of the Bixby Bridge cliffs, remains a reminder of how life can endure—sometimes hidden, but always worth protecting.

Our Team
Sonia Kriz - Founder
After more than 30 years leading teams in biotech and BioAutomation, Sonia felt the pull to return to her roots — the natural world that first inspired her career. A graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a degree in Natural Resources Management and a focus on marine environments, Sonia’s passion for wildlife began early and only grew stronger during her years living along the central coast. Her senior project, which explored the population dynamics of southern sea otters, deepened her love of marine mammals and strengthened her commitment to protecting fragile coastal ecosystems.
An avid backpacker, hiker, and kayaker in her earlier life, Sonia finds her greatest inspiration in nature itself. There is no greater gift than appreciating wildlife in their natural settings and having eye contact with a wild creature. To her, these moments represent a connection to nature that are uniquely special. She regularly hikes and photographs wildlife along the Central and Northern Californian coastline and visits Point Reyes National Seashore, as often as she can.
Preserving these environments — for both marine and land-based creatures — has become one of the planet’s greatest challenges, as plastic waste continues to infiltrate our lands, oceans, and even our bodies. Through ECP, Sonia is dedicated to being part of the solution: reducing plastic waste and helping create a future where people and the planet can thrive together.

Brian Wilson - Marketing
If Brian Wilson isn’t building EcoLibrium’s marketing engine, he’s probably outside. Hiking. Kayaking. Biking. Or convincing his wife that an eight-day trek up Mt. Whitney was in fact a fun idea (jury’s still out). Today their adventures are a touch more relaxed, but their love of the outdoors and travel hasn’t slowed for a second—it’s literally part of their DNA.
As acting CMO of EcoLibrium, Brian channels that energy into launching the brand, creating growth opportunities, and designing integrated marketing programs that put sustainability front and center. He believes the best ideas—and the best brands—are inspired by the world outside.
